Cholesterol and Heart Disease
Hello to our amazing community,
Today I would like to write about cholesterol, how it is related to heart disease and what we can do as far as nutrition and cutting back harmful foods.
I started my research when my husband was diagnosed with atherosclerosis. This happens when there is too much cholesterol in your blood. It creates build up in the walls of your arteries which causes the arteries to become narrowed and blood flow to the heart muscle is slowed down or blocked. He was then prescribed statin medication, crestor, to lower his cholesterol level. He took this for awhile, but there were a lot of side effects. He felt muscle pain and stomach discomfort.
I then decided to do some research and learn more about cholesterol.
Lets understand a little bit about cholesterol...
What is cholesterol?
It’s a type of fat found in your blood. Your liver makes cholesterol for your body. You can also get cholesterol from the foods you eat. Animal products like meat, fish, eggs, butter, cheese, and milk all have cholesterol in them.
There are two types of cholesterol that we know about:
LDL is a Low Density cholesterol called the “bad” cholesterol and
HDL is a High Density cholesterol called the “good” cholesterol.
There is the oxidized cholesterol, that is related to the LDL, and it’s cholesterol that dangerously builds up on the artery walls. Oxidation is very damaging to the cholesterol cells.
Our immune system may mistaken oxidized cholesterol for bacteria. Our immune system then tries to fight it off, which can cause inflammation inside of the arterial wall. This can lead to atherosclerosis or stroke.
How does oxidized cholesterol builds up in your bloodstream?
Bad Foods!!!!!!!
Research shows that it is not enough to take cholesterol medication. It may help with your cholesterol level, but if you’re not going to change your diet you still may die from a heart attack or a stroke. So what you need to avoid eating if your doctor tells you that you have problems with cholesterol?
*Margarin
*Fried food
*Fast food
*All vegetable oils, including olive oil
*Saturated fats
*Coffee
And of course STOP SMOKING ASAP!
Try to cut back on meat and poultry, I know its hard!!!!
Egg whites only
Avoid gluten
Increase vegetables and fruits, pomegranate is a must, and avoid mango and pineapple.
I only use pure organic avocado oil for cooking and once in awhile coconut oil…
and of course the best supplement that we can’t live without is the NAC N Acetyl, it is used by the body to build antioxidants. Antioxidants are vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients that protect and repair cells from damage.
I’ve attached a link below to the one that we use.
My husband stopped taking his medication and only worked on his diet and his cholesterol level is now perfect. He feels great, is super energetic and alive and his cardiologist tells him that he is the healthiest heart patient he has.
Remember that we are all bio individuals, and we are all different so always advise your doctor.
